Listening to: I'll be right here - Chris Brown

I love the beach! and now that the weather is picking up, I just wanna go ALL THE TIME. I hate work. I went to Maroubra with Diana, Natalie, David and of course my lovely girlfriend. Spent almost the entire time in the water fighting the waves which were SO SALTY. Too much whale sperm. LOL

Listening to: Give a Little More - Maroon 5

Last night my wonderful girlfriend and I visited the newly reopened GEMS in Canley Vale.
It looks fantastic for starters. The ambiance is very lively, if only the staff members encompassed the same mindset. They're very timid and quiet. For a place as big as it is, they need to have more outgoing staff.

It's got the standard that most Vietnamese cafe's have: Smoothies, Coffee, etc.
But this place also has Cakes and Self Serve frozen yoghurt which probably makes this cafe stand out of the bunch of cafe's in the Canley area.
The frozen yoghurt is good, some people don't like it cause they think they put too much milk or ice, which in some flavours they do - admittedly. The flavours Anna and I got were Vanilla and Mango, Mango obviously for me. It tasted like mango yoghurt. Perfect. The Vanilla however had too much ice, ruined the sweetness and turned to be rather bland.
/edit. I went again and tried more flavours! The Banana and Strawberry are awesome. So I found the fruit ones were good, and the other flavours were a little bit overdone.
They have an awesome range of toppings, but be wary, the later you go - the crappier the toppings are. From what I saw, they don't changeover their toppings during the day. So if anything, go early in the day for frozen yoghurt. Early afternoon maybe? It'll be fresher then, they become really chill during the night.

For a Canley Vale Cafe, its rare for them to have a cake range. On view, Gems have a seemingly popular range of cakes that a lot of the patrons tended to go for more than one slice. The drinks however are a different story. Anna and I frequent cafe's a LOT. So we know good coffee from bad coffee and we know when something is made a little bit more dodgy than another.
I ordered a Mango Smoothie, which is usually a pretty safe bet in a Vietnamese cafe. It's pretty hard to stuff it up. But you need to ask them to double blend their blended drinks cause they're more worried about the time frame than the quality of their product. The mangoes weren't peeled and it was so icy that it wouldn't even go up the straw. I think I will stick to little star on that end.
If you know me, I don't drink coffee. Definitely a tea enthusiast. But Anna sure does, she's also very picky about it too. She also went for the standard. Vietnamese iced coffee. According to her, it was crap. Too much water, adding that with ice that's melting quicker than chocolate on a hot stove.
The service is lovely at the drinks and cake area. The yoghurt area is very awkward and quiet. They should really incorporate a script system. A list of things to say when customers come in because they exchange too many awkward glances.
Final judgement on product, definitely good for summer. But when the weather eases over, I think they'll find it hard to keep up with the competition and the Competition is rather vivid. 7/10. Extra point for the effort I suppose. Actually, I'd rate the whole place a 7.
Give it a try! Let me know what you thought 8)

The 15 people, things, and events I would like to thank
1. My Father
He is the main man in my life, he may be quiet and stoic, but he need not say much when I know he's always there for me. Be it 2 in the morning or 11 at night, If I need help with something, a lift, or just someone to talk to - he's always been there to listen and care for me. I'm the only daughter that still hugs him good morning and good night everyday, I'm hoping to be doing that for the rest of my life.
2. My Mother
My mother has always been a firm believer of tough love when applied, and probably because of her I am a better person. She is a tough woman who has been through many hardships and issues in her life and has ended up on top. That doesn't negate from the fact that she's also made bad choices in her life. Maybe because of her bad choices, It's influenced me to make better choices for myself. She always disappoints me as much as she makes me happy - but that's standard in a mother. Sometimes she thinks I don't love her, but that's not true. My mother is, to this day, one of the most influential people in my life.

3. My Gorgeous Girlfriend, Anna
The past 4 months have been a whirlwind of emotions, really it has. It's really like having a best friend and girlfriend. I never hesitate in being honest, and neither do you - which makes loving you all the more easier. I haven't fallen in love with someone as quickly as I've fallen in love with you. You're there when I need you just to listen, and trust me - listening is more than enough in comparison to forced advice. Not that I don't appreciate your advice, you always know what to say when the time is right. I want to thank you for everything that you do for me. I love you.
4. My childhood best friend, Anthony
We've been best friends for the past 15 years. Your brutal honesty has been a part of my life this entire time - and I'm really grateful cause It's nice to get an answer that isn't sugar coated to suppress hurt on my feelings, because you know that I'd rather get the truth than a varied version of something that could possibly be truth. It's really been a breath of fresh air. I hope we'll be best friends for the rest of our lives, we've stuck around for 15 years already - I'm sure the next 15 will be just as breezy.
5. My current best friend, Diana
You come and go, you know you do. But I've always stuck around and waited because I know your friendship is one of the best I have. Since high school you've been there for me during times where I've needed you. Through break ups and torn ligaments, we've been there for each other to give advice and just be a shoulder to cry on. Tears and fears, through everything really. One of the only people I can break out in dance and song and have someone not think I'm insane haha. I love you heaps. Your dress soundz hot.
6. My Queers and Fag hags - Artiene, Kurt, Mitch, Anderson, Meltem
You guys are seriously the best. Tea parties at midnight, munchies, dragging my heels through the 3am streets of Sydney, or just having fruit shakes and tea at cafes filled with more smoke than oxygen. Life is just so much more easier with you guys there. All it takes is a random message to know you guys are thinking of me. I think of you guys everyday - don't think I don't because we don't talk as often as we did in high school or there other. I love you guys.
7. Close friends - Natalie, David, Warren, Kerrie, Jimmy, Ryan, Zak and Zac
You guys have been my rock, especially after the turn of events that happened not long ago. One call away and we are in a whirlwind of adventures. Visiting Doctor Green, Flying Kites, Board Games at 5 in the morning and dressing up is just a few of the greatest times of my life with you guys. I'm sure there will be more to come in the future. I promise.
8. The Haters
I know you're there - trust me sweetheart I know. You guys are the people that gave me strength to prove your accusations wrong and nullify your assumptions. I will spend the rest of my life rising up against your hate and always come out the better person. Have a good day :)
9. The best friends I used to have
I realise now that if our friendship meant so much to you, you would have stuck around. I've stuck by your sides through everything, even things that go beyond my morals, and to fuck off after something go minuscule? I'm glad I'm not wasting my time on a friendship that was obviously not worth it, even after so many years. All of you guys.
10. The Cheaters
The relationships I have previously had with you people have really made me as strong as I am today. This applies to almost all of my exes. Your idiocy gave you a bad reputation and gave me an independence I probably couldn't have found on my own. So, In a way, I thank you.
11. Cigarettes
These will literally be the death of me. It's been a good 7 years since I had my first drag and I've been smoking more and more everyday. They get me through the hard times, and are just a good finish to a side of tea haha.
12. Music
I live and breathe music. There is a song for every mood, emotion and feeling I have. I give thanks for the reassurance of knowing that I'm not the only person who experiences heartbreaks and aches, falling in love and just plain hurting.
13. The death of William Tran
We may not have ended well due to your lack of care, but I wouldn't wish death upon my worst enemy. I do want to thank this though for making me appreciate everyone I have in my life, and bringing everyone closer together. People that hadn't talked in ages, were opening up and apologising for stupid things that made them grow apart because we all realised life is too short to harbour differences that are so insignificant. It's just a shame that It took someone dying for all of us to realise that.
